You might be tempted to buy a brand new car but opting for a nearly new model can be a wise alternative, offering better value for money and most of the same benefits. Nearly new cars are generally classified as those that are registered within the past year and have covered less than 5,000 miles - so while you and others won’t notice the difference, your wallet will.

Models this recent still provide that ‘new car’ feeling but you could save thousands of pounds with a nearly new model as brand new car values plummet as soon as they’re driven off the forecourt.

Alternatively, if you want a practically new car but don’t want to pay a new car price, going for a pre-registered car is another option. These have less than 100 miles on the clock, but as they’ve been registered to a dealer, they’re notably cheaper, as you’d count as the second owner.

Many new cars come with as much as five or even seven years’ warranty, so you could still have up to six years of manufacturer warranty cover with a nearly new car - giving you great peace of mind for a number of years to come. Just make sure that the car has been serviced on time to be sure the warranty cover is still in place.

To help you choose the best nearly new car for you, we've rounded up eight of the best nearly new car deals that will scratch that new car itch, but at a much lower price. From superminis to sports cars, hatchbacks and SUVs, tall of them are available to order online and have delivered to your door with BuyaCar.

Best nearly new car deals

1. Kia Ceed Sportswagon

Used deals Limited stock

The Kia Ceed has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a basic budget alternative to the likes of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf, and now really impresses with its more upmarket feel and great value for money. The Sportswagon is the estate version, which takes all those good features and stretches them out into a bigger, more practical package.

The Ceed Sportswagon was facelifted halfway through 2021, so if you get one of these updated models nearly new, it won’t be losing its sharp looks anytime soon. You can tell these newer versions apart by their new Kia logo above the grille, like in the picture above. The Sportswagon big boot makes it the perfect car for treating your dog to longer walks further afield, or will come in useful for runs to the dump. For peace of mind, Kia’s famous seven-year warranty will still have another six years left for nearly new 2021 models.

2. Honda Jazz

Used deals from £18,500
Monthly finance from £0*

The current generation Honda Jazz has been out since 2020, so there are quite a few now on the market as a nearly new option at bargain prices. Its cute looks are more attractive than previous generations and its hybrid system makes it cheap to run. In fact, if you’re keen on buying a hybrid as your next car it could be one of the most reasonably priced, yet advanced options.

Its hybrid system allows you to switch between modes if you want to silently pop to the shops using electric power alone, or cruise on the motorway with petrol power, which makes it very versatile. While it’s not a car that you can thrash around aggressively, it is smooth and refined and will appeal to you if you’re looking for something relaxing to drive.

The Jazz has always been about roomy interior space, too, and the most recent generation is no different. As with the model that came before it, its ‘Magic Seats’ party-trick, which allows you to fold up the rear bench much like cinema seats, frees up a tall loading space behind the driver and front passenger; perfect for an Ikea run or trip to the garden centre.

3. BMW Z4

Used deals Limited stock

If you fancy a bit of top-down fun mixed with the appeal of an upmarket badge, then the BMW Z4 could be for you. The two-seat soft-top was developed alongside the latest Toyota Supra so has impeccable sporting credentials, and is an undeniably enticing option if glamorous high-speed cruising is your goal.

Power comes from 194hp and 255hp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines in the 20i and 30i, while the 340hp 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder M40i sits at the top of the range. But all this comes at a price new, which makes buying nearly new a sensible decision, as you’ll slash thousands from the cost.

4. Kia Picanto

Used deals Limited stock

There’s less to save if a city car is on your radar because the new car price is already relatively low. But choosing a nearly new Picanto still makes perfect sense, as you can get a substantial amount off the price for brand new cars and enjoy a great-condition runabout that will still have six of the seven years of Kia’s warranty left, giving great peace of mind.

There's an updated Picanto on the market now, so prices are only set to get lower still, making this a model to keep an eye on if you're not planning to change your car straight away. Servicing costs are affordable and the car itself delivers an enjoyable driving experience, plus it comes with a choice of petrol engines.

5. Vauxhall Astra

Used deals Limited stock

The Astra has never been considered a particularly exciting choice, but its reputation does it a disservice as it’s actually an extremely capable compact family hatch that looks good and drives well. And because it’s such a popular choice, there are loads to choose from, increasing your chances of getting a great deal.

It helps to have an idea of what you want, though, as there’s a wide choice of engines and trims, making navigating your way through what’s on offer a challenge. It’s worth it, though, as all models are well equipped and there are some nearly new models available on BuyaCar that are around half the price of the list price when new.

6. Ford Kuga

Used deals from £25,495
Monthly finance from £0*

The third-generation version of Ford’s mid-size SUV went on sale in 2019, and there’s fantastic value to be had from it as a nearly new buy. The Kuga is an appealing all-rounder for those looking to get in on the SUV trend, and it’s even more attractive if you’re after a nearly new recently discontinued diesel model.

The mid-size SUV competes against the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan, and is generally considered to be among the more enjoyable cars of this type to drive, with decent handling, and comes with a few different power options. The 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is recommended, but the Kuga also comes as a self-charging and plug-in hybrid. A mild hybrid diesel was also offered but was discontinued along with the standard 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel unit as people question whether diesel power is right for them and the environment. Like any Ford, there’s also a huge amount of models available to choose from for different budgets.

7. Hyundai Santa Fe

Used deals Limited stock

After a great-value large SUV? Look no further than the Hyundai Santa Fe, which does all that its more upmarket rivals can do at a more sensible price. Available as a five- or seven-seater the Santa Fe was given a minor update in 2020, meaning nearly new 2021 models are still looking fresh, but more affordable than they would be ordinarily.

The only engine option originally was a 2.2-litre diesel, which does a reasonable job of hauling this SUV around. The Santa Fe has been available with self-charging and plug-in hybrid versions of the 1.6-litre petrol engine for a short while now, and these are starting to appear on the nearly new market. The interior is comfortable, spacious and a little bit more luxurious than most people would probably expect a Hyundai to be.

Peugeot e-2008 deals from £30,800
